PDOA (Public Display of Affection) have returned with a love manifesto for our uncertain future. Madeleine Rose, Lewis Lloyd, Anton Remy, and Jesper Munk are pleased to announce the release of their debut album I STILL CARE on September 30.

Recorded in January 2022 in the Polish countryside with Myles DeTaco on an eight track reel-to-reel, I STILL CARE showcases the band exploring the interstices obscured by their old wilful abandon, deepening the full on post-punk assault of the 2021 debut EP with an even slinkier vibe and a newly devastating emotional punch. From the devilish vibe of “Fishing Hook” to the crushing lament of “Pink City,” PDOA take us through a world where “chivalry is dead,” every day is a riot, and the stench of the trashed past hangs in the thick air. Sometimes, as on “Spider,” PDOA take us to the center of that riot; sometimes, as on “Goodbye Watchmen,” we hike some place beautiful with them and watch the city combust from far, far away. As the album ends with the raucous “Exit,” it’s clear we’ve been been knocked down and flattened out no matter where we stand.

PDOA will set out on the road in support of I STILL CARE. Their live shows hark back to the fearless eccentricity explored by the Berlin performance art and music collectives of the 1980’s. Following recent gigs across Europe’s summer festival circuit (Fusion, Skandaløs, Reeperbahn, and Pop Kultur), they are excited to return to intimate club settings.

With I STILL CARE, PDOA still hit the golden ratio between the soulful and the sinful. This time, though, they also come straight for your gut.

lyrics

#Exit
This face
Don’t Show your face
Disgraced Face
Fuck Face
Face full
Face Fuck
Facial

All the pretty things
I carried for you are gone

Christ-a-fuck
And his friend
They went down to the Oxford
To the fair
There were twelve men dressed as Tarzan
Following him to the fair

So there he was
Christ-a-fuck
Just walking home from the darlo bar
A normal lad, doing his thing
Wanna get home
Maybe hit the milk bar

And when you close
Your eyes
You see his face from time to time
To time to time
It comes as no surprise
To love him was your only crime

It ain’t easy now
It ain’t easy now

Then they charge right up to him
They kicked his head
Right through his fucking teeth

Then they take your wallet
Your ten bucks too
The ten bucks you earn’t for one hour
May I remind you

All the pretty things I carried for you are gone

All the pretty things I carried for you are…
